Jered’s Story

Jered Ewy, 33, of Edmond, Oklahoma died on Friday July 29, 2011 while serving on his third tour in Afghanistan.

Jered is survived by his wife Megan and infant daughter, Kyla.

Jered was a man who was passionate about his family, most specifically his wife Megan and was excited about the arrival of his daughter Kyla.

Jered graduated from Putnam City North high school and the University of Central Oklahoma with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. Jered entered the military in 1998 and quickly became an Army Ranger. As an Army Ranger, he was one of the first members of the military to serve in Afghanistan. Jered transferred to the Oklahoma National Guard in 2003 and served as an instructor. Jered graduated from Officer Candidate School in January of 2011 as a Second Lieutenant.

He was a man of integrity and honor who put his family first. Jered cared deeply about the men he served with in the military but his true passion in life was his wife Megan and daughter Kyla.

Jered was very involved in his community as a gymnastics coach to many children in the Oklahoma City area. Jered also loved snakes. He was great with kids and a hit at their birthday parties when he brought all of his reptiles.
